designs are a significant part of any living space and work tooth and nail to make our homes as designally pleasing as possible for us. Bathroom décor is an important element when it comes to home décor. The sink, showerheads, faucets, all contribute to the outlook of a bathroom, but the sink perhaps is the most significant.

When it comes to upgrading the bathrooms in your house, the sinks must not be ignored. There is a whole range of sink types, colors, shapes, and designs from which to choose and by selecting a sink that goes with the rest of your bathroom you can immensely improve the designs.

What different types of sinks are available in the market?
When looking for a sink that goes perfectly for your bathroom, there are many factors to consider but first and foremost is the type of sink. There are several varieties that differ in terms of mounting and plumbing, some of which are:

1- Wall-mounted sink

This is perhaps the most popular choice of sink for homeowners. A wall-mounted sink is, as the name suggests, mounted one of the walls. The pipe supplies and plumbing are underneath the wall-mounted basin and are left uncovered. These sinks are held in place with wall brackets that hold it above the floor.
These sinks are very easily installed and take up very little space so, these are ideal for small bathrooms. Though one of the oldest types of sinks, these are still in use even for modern bathrooms.

2- Pedestal sink

Pedestal sinks are sinks that are held up high with the help of a pedestal. The pedestal protects all the plumbing and pipe connections, while also holding it against the floor. These sinks need no contact with the wall and are better suited to larger bathrooms, both in commercial and domestic settings, as they take up more space than wall-mounted sinks.

3- Drop-in sink

This type of sink is also known as a self-rimming sink. Drop-in sinks have an extra lip that holds it in its place above the counter. These sinks are very easy to install and you need not to alter the design of the bathroom to get this sink; you can install it in the existing vanity! Drop-in sinks are quite design and stylish too.

4- Vessel sink

Vessel sinks are sinks that have an individual bowl that rests on the counter-top and the faucet is installed in this. These sinks are also referred to as above-counter installations. Available in ceramic, mosaic, marble, crystal, and many more materials, these sinks are both elegant and stylish. This type of bathroom sink is more commonly used in public places as several bowls resting on a single counter-top. Although these can also be installed in domestic bathrooms, it is not very common. Other types of bathroom sinks are more preferable.

Specific uses of the different types of sinks
There are a number of different shapes, sizes, materials and colors of bathroom sinks available. This, together with the type of the sink, is an important consideration when deciding which sink to go for. Wall-mounted sinks offer less shelf space so are better for bathrooms not used very frequently. Pedestal sinks are easier than wall-mounted sinks and self-rimming sinks to clean. The vessel sinks are usually used in commercial settings only and are very rare in domestic bathrooms. In public places, this type allows several bowls to be installed on one counter conveniently.

In terms of designs, the choices available include a range of materials. Pedestal sinks are usually available in vitreous china, while other materials include fireclay, ceramic, porcelain, resin, glass, and stone. These types have different price ranges and durability.

Bathroom sinks are indispensable components of both public and domestic bathrooms. They are crucial in designs in both settings and installing an elegant and stylish bathroom sink in either of the settings can significantly improve the outlook of the bathroom and the market value of the place.
