Project Snapshot

Application: Large commercial restroom (high traffic)

Total lavatories: 20

Counter layout: Two counters, 10 sinks each

Sink spacing: 24" on-center

Soap system: Fontana MultiFeed (centralized reservoir + manifold)

Dispensers: Touchless automatic soap dispensers

Executive Summary

This project standardized a 20-sink restroom on a Fontana MultiFeed approach to reduce refill labor, simplify maintenance, and maintain consistent touchless soap delivery across long sink runs. The design uses two independent zones—one per 10-sink counter— with midpoint reservoir placement to balance line lengths and support predictable commissioning.

Design Challenge

A 20-outlet touchless soap requirement across two 10-sink counters typically drives high maintenance burden if each dispenser is refilled individually. The team needed a system that:

  • Reduces refill points and improves maintenance efficiency
  • Maintains consistent dosing at every sink station
  • Supports high uptime during peak usage
  • Creates clear, serviceable zoning for facilities teams

Fontana MultiFeed Solution

The final solution uses two independent MultiFeed zones. Each zone includes a centralized soap reservoir/pump assembly feeding a local distribution manifold, then branching to 10 touchless dispensers via individual labeled lines.

Zone A — Counter A

Serves: 10 dispensers (A1–A10)

Reservoir location: Under Sink A-5 or A-6 (midpoint)

Distribution: MF-A → MAN-A → A1–A10

Zone B — Counter B

Serves: 10 dispensers (B1–B10)

Reservoir location: Under Sink B-5 or B-6 (midpoint)

Distribution: MF-B → MAN-B → B1–B10

Engineering & Detailing Notes

Service Access

  • Locate reservoir at midpoint cabinet (Sink 5/6) for easy reach
  • Maintain clear access for refill and pump/manifold service
  • Provide as-built map of reservoir locations

Line Routing & Labeling

  • Label branches at manifold and dispenser: A1–A10, B1–B10
  • Avoid kinks/pinch points at cabinet penetrations
  • Secure tubing neatly inside vanity cabinetry

Isolation & Uptime

  • Provide zone isolation/shutoff at MF-A and MF-B
  • Service one counter without taking down the other
  • Separate zones simplify troubleshooting

Commissioning

  • Prime all branch lines
  • Verify dose consistency at farthest points (A1/A10, B1/B10)
  • Deliver labeled manifold map at turnover

Results & Value Delivered

Maintenance efficiency: Reduced refill/service points from 20 individual dispensers to 2 centralized reservoirs.

  • Higher uptime: Two-zone architecture allows one counter to remain operational during service.
  • Cleaner operations: Centralized refilling reduces staff time and disruption.
  • Consistent user experience: Balanced midpoint placement supports uniform delivery across long sink runs.
  • Facilities-ready: Clear zoning and labeling shorten troubleshooting time.

Drawing Note Block (Drop-In)

Provide two (2) independent Fontana MultiFeed soap dispensing zones serving two (2) 10-sink counters (24" O.C.). Each zone shall include one centralized MultiFeed reservoir/pump assembly connected to a local distribution manifold supplying ten (10) automatic soap dispensers via individual labeled branch tubing. Zone A: MF-A located under Counter A at midpoint (Sink A-5 or A-6) feeding MAN-A to A1–A10. Zone B: MF-B located under Counter B at midpoint (Sink B-5 or B-6) feeding MAN-B to B1–B10. Provide zone isolation/shutoff at each reservoir/manifold assembly; route tubing neatly within vanity cabinetry; prime all lines and verify consistent dosing at the farthest dispensers prior to turnover.
