Fontana Touchless Faucets™ | Architectural and Engineering Resource
Fontana Commercial Brushed Gold Touchless Automatic Sensor Faucet:
Commissioning Verification
This commissioning resource supports plumbing engineers, contractors,
installers, commissioning personnel and facility managers verifying
the completed FS1099 installation. The verification record should
address mounting stability, water connections, power configuration,
sensor response, delivered flow, temperature and shutoff performance.
Complete testing with the selected basin, surrounding finishes and
adjacent accessories installed.
Fontana FS1099 Installed Performance Verification
Verify the installed faucet against the approved project
configuration and applicable manufacturer instructions.
Record measured results separately from published specifications,
and resolve incomplete tests or inconsistent operation before
accepting the fixture for service.
- Model: FS1099
- Finish: Brushed Gold
- Published detection zone: 16–32 cm or adjustable
- Published opening time: Less than 1 second
- Published closing time: Less than 2 seconds
- Published flow rate: 2 GPM / 7.57 L/min
- Published temperature range: 0.1–50°C
- DC power: 6 V — four AA alkaline batteries
- Listed AC power: 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz
- Installed power arrangement: Confirm the supplied equipment variant and labels
- Supply pressure acceptance: Obtain manufacturer clarification of inconsistent published pressure entries
- Handover record: Test conditions, measured results, settings and corrective actions
Required Commissioning Verification Package
Pair the installed arrangement drawing with a fixture-specific
test record. Identify the basin, control equipment, power source
and selected temperature-control components. For each check,
record the acceptance criterion, test method, observed result
and any corrective work. Retain the document revisions used
to establish the verification requirements.
Installation Readiness
Confirm fixture identification, mounting stability and
correct base seating. Inspect the hose and sensor cable
for pinching, tension or interference, and verify access
to serviceable equipment.
Supply Preparation and Leakage
Confirm completion of the required supply flushing.
Inspect joints with the supply pressurized, during
discharge and after shutoff. Record and resolve leakage
before continuing performance acceptance.
Power Configuration
Verify the supplied power arrangement and equipment ratings.
Check battery installation where applicable and complete
electrical checks through qualified personnel using the
applicable installation instructions.
Sensor Startup and Detection
Complete the applicable startup-adjustment procedure.
Test hand entry from normal washing positions and observe
the empty basin for unwanted activation under the final
lighting and finish conditions.
Opening and Closing Response
Record the interval between a valid hand presentation and
water discharge, then between hand withdrawal and cessation.
Use manufacturer-confirmed test conditions where supplied
and identify the timing method used.
Delivered Flow and Stream
Measure discharge using a suitable flow instrument or
timed collection method. Record the supply conditions,
stream formation and water landing position; assess
splash during normal handwashing.
Delivered-Water Temperature
Measure outlet temperature against the approved project
requirement. Where a mixing device is installed, verify
its setting and specified functions using its own
commissioning procedure.
Timeout and Power Features
Verify the applicable maximum-run function and any documented
power-changeover feature supported by the supplied variant.
Confirm the expected behavior before testing and record
the actual result.
Engineering note:
Published specifications are reference values, not recorded field
results. Establish acceptance conditions through approved submittals
and manufacturer instructions. The FS1099 documents contain different
startup timing references and inconsistent pressure entries; resolve
these before assigning test limits. The published temperature range
is not a recommended handwashing setpoint. A valve lifespan rating
is not a site commissioning test.
Commissioning Verification Sequence
1. Establish the Test Basis
Identify the installed configuration and approved documents.
Confirm acceptance criteria, measurement methods and
unresolved manufacturer information before testing.
2. Complete Readiness Checks
Inspect mounting, connections, routing and service access.
Confirm flushing and leak checks, then verify that the
basin and surrounding installation are complete.
3. Perform Startup Adjustment
Apply power and follow the procedure applicable to the
supplied controls. Keep the sensing area clear during
adjustment and confirm startup completion before
assessing detection.
4. Measure Operating Performance
Check activation, release, flow, temperature and water
placement. Record actual measurements and test conditions
rather than entering catalogue values as results.
5. Verify Applicable Functions
Complete the documented timeout and supplied power-feature
tests. Where temperature-control equipment is selected,
perform its required checks without assuming protective
functions from the option name alone.
6. Resolve and Hand Over
Correct defects and repeat the affected tests.
Provide the accepted results, installed settings,
equipment identification and maintenance instructions
to the facility representative.
Commissioning Record and Acceptance Checks
Fixture Identification
Record the room, station number, faucet model and basin.
Identify the control-box variant and selected accessories
so results remain traceable to the tested assembly.
Measured Supply Conditions
Record relevant static and operating pressure measurements
and available supply temperatures. Note conditions that
limit the interpretation of flow or temperature results.
Sensor Behavior
Document the adjustment method and observed activation
positions. Include empty-basin behavior and interaction
with nearby dispensers or other accessories.
Hydraulic Performance
Record delivered flow, stream condition and complete
shutoff. Note splash, drips or leakage and distinguish
connection defects from outlet or basin-coordination concerns.
Service Demonstration
Demonstrate access to isolation fittings, battery components
and control connections where applicable. Confirm that
routine servicing can occur without disturbing permanent
finishes or the faucet mounting.
Corrective Action Closure
Identify failed or incomplete checks, corrective work
and retest results. Record the responsible verifier,
completion date and remaining restrictions before
final acceptance.

This resource supports installation acceptance and does not replace
approved commissioning procedures, manufacturer instructions or
required inspections. Confirm the supplied configuration, resolve
conflicting documentation and retain measured test results before
releasing the fixture for service.
