Hot-and-Cold Mixer Configuration
This hot-and-cold mixer configuration resource is intended to support
architects, plumbing engineers, electrical engineers, interior designers,
contractors, installers and facility managers coordinating a tempered-water
installation for the Fontana FS8014ORB wall-mounted automatic sensor faucet.
The drawing package identifies the hot-water inlet, cold-water inlet,
isolation valves, check valves, thermostatic mixing valve, mixed-water
outlet, solenoid valve, flexible faucet supply, temperature-adjustment access
and directional flow sequence.
Fontana Oil Rubbed Bronze Wall-Mounted Automatic Sensor Faucet
The Fontana FS8014ORB wall-mounted faucet may be coordinated with
a compatible hot-and-cold mixing assembly to provide tempered water
at the automatic faucet outlet. Separate hot- and cold-water supplies
pass through isolation and check valves before entering the mixing
valve. The resulting mixed-water supply continues through the
electronically controlled solenoid valve and flexible hose to the
wall-mounted faucet.

Required Hot-and-Cold Mixer Configuration Drawing Package
Each drawing should use a consistent line hierarchy, component-numbering
system and product-identification block. Hot-water, cold-water and
mixed-water paths should be visually distinguishable, and directional
arrows should identify the sequence from the building supplies through
the mixing and control components to the faucet. Valve sizes, connection
designations, temperature-adjustment access and service-clearance
requirements should be clearly labeled.
Typical Hot-and-Cold Mixer Configuration
Shows the complete tempered-water arrangement serving the
Fontana FS8014ORB automatic sensor faucet. Separate hot- and
cold-water supplies enter through isolation and check valves,
combine at the thermostatic mixing valve, pass through the
solenoid valve and flexible supply hose, and continue to the
wall-mounted faucet connection.
Hot-Water Inlet
Identifies the building hot-water connection entering the
mixing assembly. The inlet should be clearly marked and routed
through an accessible isolation valve and check valve before
connecting to the designated hot side of the thermostatic
mixing valve.
Cold-Water Inlet
Identifies the building cold-water connection entering the
mixing assembly. The cold supply should pass through its own
accessible isolation valve and check valve before connecting
to the designated cold side of the thermostatic mixing valve.
Isolation Valves
Shows separate service shutoff valves on the hot- and cold-water
inlets. The valves allow either supply to be isolated during
installation, testing, temperature adjustment, mixer maintenance
or component replacement without shutting down unrelated fixtures.
Check Valves
Documents the check valves located downstream of the isolation
valves. The check valves are intended to limit reverse flow and
cross-connection between the hot- and cold-water branches before
the two supplies enter the mixing valve.
Thermostatic Mixing Valve
Identifies the valve that blends the incoming hot and cold water
to produce a controlled mixed-water supply. The hot and cold
connections, mixed outlet, temperature-adjustment mechanism and
service orientation should be shown clearly in the drawing.
Mixed-Water Outlet and Solenoid Valve
Shows the tempered-water path leaving the mixing valve and
entering the electrically controlled solenoid valve. The
solenoid opens in response to the faucet sensor and control
module, allowing mixed water to continue toward the faucet.
Faucet Supply Connection
Identifies the flexible hose connecting the solenoid outlet to
the wall-mounted faucet inlet. The hose should be routed without
kinks, compression or abrasion, and its fittings should match
the designated solenoid and faucet connection sizes.
Temperature-Adjustment Access
Defines the service area required to reach the mixing-valve
temperature adjustment. The adjustment cap, screw or control
should remain accessible after installation so the outlet
temperature can be set, verified and maintained without removing
permanent finishes.

connection sizes, hose lengths and control arrangement may vary according
to the selected FontanaShowers package. Verify the mixing valve setting,
check-valve orientation, flow direction and connection compatibility
against the approved product submittal and installation instructions.
Plumbing, Temperature and Service Coordination Considerations
Hot and Cold Identification
Label the two building supplies clearly and connect each branch
to the corresponding hot or cold mixing-valve inlet. Reversed
connections can prevent proper temperature control.
Service Isolation
Keep both isolation valves accessible so the hot and cold
supplies can be shut off independently during commissioning,
adjustment and maintenance.
Check-Valve Orientation
Install each check valve in the indicated direction of flow and
provide sufficient access for inspection, cleaning and
replacement where required.
Mixing-Valve Access
Locate the thermostatic mixing valve within a serviceable area
where maintenance personnel can reach the temperature adjustment,
inlet connections and mixed-water outlet.
Outlet-Temperature Verification
Measure the delivered water temperature at the faucet after the
system has stabilized. Adjust the mixer in accordance with the
approved valve instructions and project temperature requirements.
Flow-Direction Verification
Confirm that the hot, cold and mixed-water arrows correspond with
the actual installed piping route from the building supplies to
the faucet connection.
