Historic & Concept Visuals
Legacy, Location & Character
Location & Identity
The Outrigger Beach Resort stood at 6200 Estero Blvd, offering 144 rooms across a low-rise layout.
It provided guests with a simple, affordable beach escape and direct Gulf access, becoming a staple
of Fort Myers Beach tourism.
Architecture & Atmosphere
Modest motel-style structures, exterior corridors, and tropical landscaping surrounded the resort’s
tiki bar and beachfront café. Its bathrooms were described as clean and spacious but varied in modernization.
Market Position
Outrigger served mid-market travelers — casual comfort, not extravagance — offering high value and
nostalgic charm along Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Demolition, Redevelopment & Future Outlook
Demolition & Sale
In 2023,
London Bay Development purchased the property (and adjacent parcel) for
$38.2 million following Hurricane Ian’s destruction. The existing structure was demolished, paving
the way for a new vision on Fort Myers Beach.
Proposed Redevelopment
Plans include a
9–15 story boutique hotel and condo-hotel mix with 100 hotel rooms,
50 condo-hotel units, and 46 private condominiums — complete with rooftop dining, pool decks, and
public beach access.
Community & Planning
While the project has faced feedback over height and density, London Bay continues refining the
design to meet community and regulatory standards. The final plan emphasizes coastal resilience and
sustainability.
- Public beach amenities: restrooms, showers, and access points.
- Rooftop bar and restaurant with Gulf views.
- Dedicated parking structure for residents and guests.
Bathroom Fixture Strategy for Redevelopment
Guest Expectations
With its boutique repositioning, guests will expect modern, spa-like bathrooms:
- Stone or quartz vanities and frameless showers.
- Touchless faucets and sensor flush valves.
- Rainfall and handheld shower options.
- Thermostatic mixing for safe, consistent water control.
- Marine-grade finishes to resist corrosion.
Recommended Fixtures
- WaterSense dual-flush toilets and thermostatic shower valves.
- Standardized fixture families for efficient maintenance.
- LED backlit, anti-fog mirrors with integrated lighting.
- Curbless showers for accessibility and design continuity.
- Leak sensors and water-usage monitoring for sustainability.
Public Amenity Integration
For beach restrooms and showers, use vandal-resistant, touchless fixtures with
anti-scald and freeze protection — ensuring durability and hygiene in high-use areas.
